Complete series of ten signature screen printings
Transfiguration and personal reinterpretation of the city of the same name, an important religious and cultural centre for ancient Sri Lankan civilisations from the Iron Age onwards. The city takes the form of a gigantic stūpa, one of the oldest forms of religious monument, in which the various elements are broken up vertically and remain suspended in mid-air, as if they were traversed by an ancient and perpetual energy, which descends to the ground producing a transformation of the terrain. The light strikes the rounded surfaces of the main volume, producing a soft chiaroscuro, while the cartouche with the name of the city, written in the Sinhala language, stands out on the side.
