Pollaio
Marco Manzella
In this composition, Marco Manzella constructs a scene suspended between domesticity and symbolic imagery. The modular structure, similar to a chicken coop or a small rural building, contains nine white hens arranged in a regular grid that evokes an almost typological order. Behind the structure, a female figure observes the scene, introducing a discreet yet significant narrative presence. The contrast between the geometric rigidity of the architecture and the organic dimension of the landscape—stylized trees, clear skies, small natural presences—creates a balance between control and vitality. The subtle irony and suspended atmosphere, typical of the artist's pictorial language, transform a seemingly everyday subject into an image charged with ambiguity and suggestion. The painting, material yet calibrated, uses warm chromatic fields and a simplified spatial construction that accentuates the almost theatrical nature of the scene.
