The deep blue becomes the protagonist of this work, taking on an immersive and contemplative dimension. Schifano constructs a vibrant surface in which color comes alive through the movement of the brush and the materiality of the paint. The self-portrait emerges as a trace of the act of painting itself: an identity evoked through color and gesture rather than through representation.
