Mario Schifano
The work depicts a landscape reinterpreted through Mario Schifano’s expressive language. The composition is divided into three bands: a deep blue night sky dotted with white, a central horizontal line crossed by a red mark, and green vegetation rendered with rapid, textured brushstrokes. The vibrant colors and energetic painterly gestures imbue the scene with a strong sense of movement and vitality. Although rooted in a real-world element, Schifano does not seek a faithful representation of nature; instead, he offers a personal, emotional vision of it. The landscape thus becomes an evocative image in which color and mark-making take precedence over realistic detail—consistent with the artistic exploration that characterizes many of his works dedicated to nature and the landscape.
