Presented by Giovanni Faccenda, the exhibition is organized by Bernabò Home Gallery with the patronage of Ministero della Cultura, del Consiglio regionale della Toscanaof Provincia di Lucca and of Comune di Bargawith the patronage of Idrotherm 2000 S.p.a.
The inauguration will be held Thursday 4 August at 6.00 pm, In presence of Caterina Campani, mayor of the Municipality of Barga, di Laura Piangerelli by Bernabò Home Gallery, the artists and the curator.
The title of the exhibition - “La Pittura dell’Immaginifico” - refers to the preponderant absence of time that characterizes the works on display, made of concrete material and fleeting light, of small details that conceal a world. Abstract places, dreamlike places, ephemeral places, which resonate among the stones of Barga, the art village, loved and appreciated by artists and poets.
«Barga - explains Caterina Campani - has a vocation as a city open to art. Barga is a place of charm and tradition where we find the houses of painters who wrote its history; artists who have chosen the town as their muse. An art village of Florentine influence and full of galleries, exhibitions and events of a national and international character, capable of attracting excellent tourism from all parts of the world ".
The exhibition itinerary, set up inside the Le Stanze della Memoria Museum, includes over thirty paintings, many of which are unpublished, made by Claudio Cargiolli (Ponzanello, 1952), Marco Manzella (Livorno, 1962) and Alessandro Tofanelli (Viareggio, 1959).
«In an exclusively alphabetical order - he writes Giovanni Faccenda - we know Claudio Cargiolli as a virtuoso interpreter of a cultured surrealism, ennobled by endogenous influences that refer to ancient aristocrats: from primitive masters to those of the Italian Renaissance. Marco Manzella, on the other hand, appears rather an inspired singer of a realism you would say nostalgic, continually embellished with memorial reflections, abandonments and personal fortune-tellers, both when they belong to the sphere of illusions or to that, more bitter, of disenchantments. By Alessandro Tofanelli we could instead emphasize how the subjects of his paintings are, indeed, all sentimental self-portraits: places, glimpses, views and visions that belong to his life as a man and as an artist as holds or - better to say - essential references, essential hinges. when doubts thicken in the mind without the comfort of any, remote, fleeting certainty. Here, then, the painting intervenes to save, showing the most sensitive horizons of the mind where it is still possible to encounter some evanescent reverberations of utopias that have never faded, the last flashes of daydreams, the luminous trail of a now lost North Star ».
"The Painting of the Imaginative" is the first public exhibition promoted by Bernabò Home Gallery in Barga, a place chosen by Laura Piangerelli for the opening of a new exhibition space in addition to the historic site in Trezzo sull'Adda (MI). "Barga, a dream city, beyond appearing phenomenal - notes the gallery owner. Barga city of stone, suspended on a cloud ».
