Marco Manzella
Born in Livorno in 1962, after the Art School he graduated in restoration, dealing for some time with mural paintings and ancient artistic techniques, and then definitively dedicating himself only to painting.
He began his exhibition activity in 1985 developing his interest in some episodes of fifteenth-century Tuscan painting and in figurative art of the first half of the twentieth century. At the end of the nineties he began an approach to figurative painting of the Anglo-Saxon area, staying in long in the United States. Starting from this period, the interiors of the early years open up to visions rich in warm colors where the element of water takes on ever greater importance.
In 1998 he took part in Mirabel's International Plein-air, organized by the city of Darmstadt (D), starting a fruitful relationship with some German galleries. Moreover, always attracted by Iberian culture, since 2001 his work has also been recognized in Spain with a series of exhibitions in institutional spaces. In 2004 the Laboratoires Boiron of Lyon chose one of his paintings for their advertising campaign in France.
In the works of recent years, the vocation for a painting with a strong narrative value is confirmed. Some compositions recover the theme of the landscape, however imagined as an artificial construction detached from any reference to a real place. Part of his production is dedicated to graphics, which includes drawings and etchings.
Over the years he has collaborated with numerous Italian galleries (including Stefano Forni, Bologna - Poggiali and Forconi, Florence - Hinterland, Milan) and foreign ones (Galerie Artis, Darmstadt - Jorge Alcolea, Madrid and Barcelona).
Lives and works in Viareggio and Brescia.
