Appeso
Ciro Palumbo
The work constructs a space suspended between reality and vision, in which the everyday is transfigured in a symbolic key. A fish, isolated and raised to the center of the scene, becomes the protagonist of an ambiguous and alienating dimension: no longer an aquatic creature, but an almost metaphysical presence, held in an interior that contradicts its nature. The environment, constructed with a rigorous perspective and intense colors, evokes a silent theatricality. The enclosed room, with its warm and saturated tones, opens laterally onto a marine landscape, introducing a tension between interior and exterior, between constraint and freedom. The figure of the fish, suspended and immobilized, enters this visual dialogue, symbolizing an existential condition that oscillates between the desire to escape and inevitable permanence. The objects—the sphere and the stones—accentuate the sense of precarious balance, becoming elements of an essential poetic lexicon. As often happens in Palumbo's work, the image doesn't narrate but suggests: every detail is charged with a restrained narrative tension, inviting the viewer to question the scene's profound meaning. The work thus emerges as a meditation on limits and possibilities, where reality cracks and allows another dimension to emerge, suspended between dream and awareness.
