Although these are multiples, this collection expresses Mimmo Rotella's iconic artistic gesture, or "the tear"; in these works it is made by hand by the artist, making each copy unique and different thanks to the use of a very particular technique: the SeriDécollage, which consists of superimposing two screen prints on which the artist intervened to create the tears. It is therefore an evolution of the décollage technique that has made Mimmo Rotella famous since the 1950s. What makes this collection iconic is also the use of unique and original subjects, i.e. the posters of the great cinematic classics, such as Casablanca and Roman Holiday, and the films of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis, Sophia Loren, James Dean. This work in particular is in fact the poster for an anthological exhibition dedicated to the actress Marilyn Monroe, Mimmo Rotella's favorite star, which celebrates the smiling diva in all her beauty.
