Mirko Gessaga

Mirko Gessaga

Mirko Gessaga, born in the "Milan to drink" in the mid-80s. He nurtured his passion for art from a young age and graduated from the I State Art High School. However, it was when he discovered artist Cai Guo-Qiang's videos that he was fascinated and found inspiration in art explosive of the latter. Concepts such as trigger, wait, roar and explosion have begun to permeate his artistic research, becoming fundamental tools for self-expression. Between travel and occasional jobs, Mirko lands in the taxi world for 10 years; a time when he felt like he was trapped in a white cage, driven by the bustle of the city. Precisely because of this sense of oppression and encouraged by his great passion for art, he decides to abandon his job as a taxi driver to devote himself completely to his art. Mirko's early works were characterized by bursts of liberating and instinctive energy, in which he found an authentic form of expression. Over time, he began to experiment with a combination of gesture and precision, destruction and construction, resulting in a unique style. The action itself becomes the image that is shaped during the creative process, allowing the dynamic energy of the explosion to be captured and transferred to the canvas. His works represent the encounter between instinct and reflection, the ephemeral and the eternal. His ability to translate emotions into painterly gestures is evident in his creations, which take the viewer on a sensory journey through vibrant shapes and fiery colours.
